Riedel’s Benchmark Vinum (1986) Collection
Vinum is RIEDEL's basic varietal specific stemmed series. Designed in 1986 by 10th generation glassmaker Georg J. Riedel, Vinum was created to ensure every wine lover could afford varietal-specific glassware and greater wine enjoyment. Based on the handmade Sommeliers range, machine production means Vinum can be offered at a more accessible price.
Vinum became the first machine-made glass in history to be based on the characteristics of grape varietals. VINUM was not developed on a drawing board, but in tasting workshops, based on performance, where the content commands the shape. The pleasure of enjoying fine wine starts with the right glass.
The Cognac Hennessy glass is perfect for providing the ideal tasting expirience of Cognac: fruit, body, finesse and fire. Cognac is mainly served in wide balloon-shaped glasses - in spite of the disadvantages which this shape has for the enjoyment of cognac. The finely tuned shape of this glass harmonizes aroma and taste, tempers alcohol and stringency of the palate, and emphasizes the bouquet. The thin tulip-shaped glass allows its contents a very small evaporation surface.
